Hi Crystal of “Jessie Lane”! Thanks for sitting down and chatting with me!! Welcome to my BBR lair… let’s get started shall we?

Hi Dee! Thanks for having me stop by today. You may start your interrogation now, lol.

Where did you two, the writing duo of Jessie Lane, meet?

I met my writing partner Melissa after I started dating one of her brothers. The rest, as they say, is history.

Where do you do your best brainstorming?

When I’m dreaming. I know, that probably sounds weird, but I swear I have the craziest dreams. I also seem to get ideas when I’m in the shower or when I’m walking. For your sake, I won’t tell you which of the story ideas came to me in the shower. No judging! LOL.
**hahaah** okay! Especially if it's the spider..please don't tell me that. A spider in the shower is the WORST!

How does your writing process work?

I’m not some super organized person like other authors I’ve met. They sit down and write out these elaborate plot lines… I DON’T DO THAT. I’ve tried, and I’ve found that it affects my writing creativity in negative ways. So, this is all very anti-climactic, but I just sit down and write. That’s it.

Who is responsible for what during the process of writing a book?

The way Melissa and I have operated up until recently is that I write the book, and then Mel goes over it and adds anything if she feels it’s needed, or polishes the story up a bit. We’ve recently stepped away from that format so that Mel could sit down and write the 2nd upcoming book in the Star Series, The Frozen Star. That will be the first book that Mel has written and I will in turn go over, add, and/or polish it.

Do you ever disagree on which way a story line should go? If so, what do you do?

Rock, paper, scissors. LOL. Just kidding! Yes, we have at times argued about plot lines or characters, but we would talk the issue out and then go with whatever we felt was best for the story.

What inspires your writing and your characters?

EVERYTHING. Walking down the street (yes – that really happened. An Ex Ops story was inspired that way). My life, reading, television… all sorts of things inspire me.

Have you ever written anyone that you know in real life into a book?

YES. Four times. BUT, all four times have been a twist of that person in real life, and nothing true to how they are in life. The first time was a character named Sabine in The Burning Star. She’s a seductive siren that’s out to get Prince Ryan (the hero). Sabine is based on my best friend Sabrina. Sabrina is also a large part of the inspiration behind Teagan in Secret Maneuvers and her attitude and career.

The third time was in Secret Maneuvers with Annabelle, aka “Belle”. I based some characteristics off a dear friend of mine named Aimee. All of Belle’s tough, ‘I can survive anything’, and country girl attitude are from Aimee.

The fourth time was another dear friend of mine, Laura from Little Read Riding Hood. I named the victim that Belle and the Ex Ops Team finds being held hostage in Mexico with the Rivera Cartel after her.

I draw inspiration from everyday life, so it’s bound to happen again with future characters.

How do you handle negative reviews, if you get any?

I try to view “negative” reviews as some sort of learning lesson. What was the reader’s complaint? Could I have written something differently so that whatever the reader’s problem is could have been avoided? I think it’s best not to look at “negative” reviews as something that’s damning, but rather as something that might be fixable in the next book.

What’s the best advice you could give an aspiring author?

Write, write some more, and then WRITE SOME MORE. The best way to learn is to just to keep writing. There’s a huge difference in my first book and my fourth book with my confidence and writing styles. I like to think I’ll still be learning twenty years from now when I’m writing my 100th novel.

What’s the best advice someone gave you?

Don’t give up. I won’t lie, this is a tough market. There are lots of other authors out there right now, and it’s hard to be noticed. It’s also hard to put your heart and soul into something and then throw it out in the public to see if they’ll like it or not. The truth is, if this were not my dream job, I would have given up by now.

What’s the best gift a fan ever gave you?

Their support. Seriously. BEST. GIFT. EVER. Anytime a reader writes me on facebook or through email to tell me they loved my story, I’m in awe. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to that feeling of awe, and I don’t want to get used to it. I want to cry, in a good way, every time.

Who are your favorite authors?

Oh, I have so many. I could sit here all day and talk about the authors I love, but I’m going to just name a few: Madeline Sheehan, Kristen Ashley, Katie Reus, Cynthia Eden, Karen Marie Moning, Kresley Cole, Lora Leigh, Shelly Laurenston, Celia Kyle, GA Aiken, Joanna Wylde, Maya Banks, Shayla Black and Lexi Blake.

There are some awesome authors in there!

Who came up with the Big Bad Bite and WOTSS stories?

So far, all of the stories that have published under Jessie Lane have been my ideas. However, Mel has ideas of her own that she will be working on in the near future after she finishes writing The Frozen Star!

Do you have favorite characters?

YES. I know I shouldn’t. It’s kind of like a mother having a favorite child. But, there are a few that I adored. Gage Ivanov is one of my favorites. Teagan from The Ex Ops Series is another. I sort of love how no one gets Teagan yet, or outright hates her. That’s because no one knows Teagan the way I do. I know why she’s such a bitch, but I also know what’s coming up for her in the future. I look forward to seeing what readers think of Teagan by the time her book rolls around.

If you could pick just one of your characters to be real, who would it be?

Teagan, Belle’s best friend from Secret Maneuvers. Anyone noticing how much I love her yet? Just wait. The world will eventually see why. I’d also love to have Alec Ivanov in real life. YUM.

rawwwwrrrr

Has your family read your books? If so, what did they think?

I can only think of four family members that have read my book. My cousin Sam (whom I adore beyond measure), my Mom, Mother-in-law and one of my aunts. If anyone else in my family has read them, I don’t know about it. So far they all love my stories and have told me that they’re excited to see what I’ll do in the future.

Since Chloe and the Demon seem to have a thing, sad heavy sigh, can I have the Lion? Please? Pretty, pretty please? I promise to let the cat out to play and be sure he has his sights on something to run down and tackle. *blushing* Just thinking about those big hands, and that mane…the mouth... Oh...sorry... Where were we...next question..

How many books can we plan on for this series?

I do not have a certain number of books planned. I have a long term plotline planned. The pieces will start to fall together more in book three, but everything will tie together. I’ll keep writing the Big Bad Bite Series as long as one of the characters demands their book be written. When they go radio silent, then I’ll know it’s time to end it. What I can say is that I know book three, The Demon Who Loved Me, features Chloe and Kent’s story. Book four, Once Upon A Bite, features Delta and a certain vampire. Or maybe a pair of vampires? *eyebrow wiggles* I’ll let everyone wonder if Delta will end up with two men or one for a while. After that I have a couple of characters yakking to me in my head. Alec, Tyson and Alpha Corvus. I’m not too sure what will happen after them.

Will each set of characters get their happily ever after?

Hmmmm. That’s a really great question. I don’t know. For instance, I don’t picture Lulu Ivanov having a happily ever after right now. But, you never know. That may change.

Do Elena and Gage get their lives tied and cubs?

Oooooooo… how can I answer this. Well, I can’t. There are events that will happen between The Demon Who Loved Me and Once Upon A Bite that will FOREVER change Gage and Elena’s life. Some of it’s good, but some of it’s bad. What I will say are that the cubs will arrive safely at some point.

You're evil with these teasers!

Any teasers you can give us for the Chloe and Kent story?

Kent’s a playboy who’s been putting off his familial responsibilities for a long time. Chloe is a woman who hates men that go through women faster than underwear. Can anyone picture the kind of hell Chloe is going to put him through? Hee.
*slow grin* Now that'll be good!

Wow.. well.. thanks for that!! Thanks for sitting down with me! *HUGS*

WOW. Now, I liked Big bad Bite. I mean, hello, Adam, enough said. But Gage.... GAGE people, GAGE! Good lord. He's a TIGER SHIFTER.. hello!! and his brother, Alec.. um.. are you still listening? We have ripped, alpha, hot, tiger shifting brothers here!

You wanna snuggle them now don't you? I know... me too!!!! There is so much I liked about this book. In fact, I like it much more than I liked Big Bad Bite, and I liked that one A LOT . There were so many things about Gage that just got my purring like the big cat he is. Rubbing his face on her chest.. hot... alpha male.. hot...big tough guy... hot... strong female lead...check. Do you really need me to continue?

I didn't think so. Not only did Gage fulfill my alpha male, hot guy requirement, but this book had so many times when I was reading it that I was literally laughing out loud or giggling. I mean the spider had me seriously LAUGHING OUT LOUD.

The way she decorated his house...OMG.. I LAUGHED FOR SERIOUSLY 15 MINUTES! It was epic! The chemistry between Elena and Gage is seriously off the charts, and the banter between her and her sisters is hilarious. But I think I figured out one of the things I loved the most about this book. ..besides the alpha males.. Elena doesn't just roll over and take his crap. He roars and she roars right back.

The way this story is written is a follow up to the story line in Big Bad Bite, and it flows so effortlessly. All the characters return and the same chemistry we had in book one is back. Elena fits into the group so well. This book is so good, the writing is flawless, its seriously highly highly recommended.
 I give this 5 hearts!

Author: Jessie Lane
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publication: February 25th 2014 by Jessie Lane
Synopsis:
Does he have his claws in her for good? Or is she just yanking his tail?

Elena Demos’s life has been turned upside down. Her mother has passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with their mother’s will and the crazy stipulations it contains. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind, they have to go to work with two aunts they’ve never met, in the family business they’ve known nothing about, Amazons Inc. If that isn’t bad enough, she runs into the man who once broke her heart, and it’s only their first day on the job.

Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn't be told of his Other identity. Now, Elena’s back, but she refuses to give in to his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn’t be worse, either, because Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate?

Claws, love bites and handcuffs - OH MY!
