Until it Fades by K.A. Tucker Blog Tour

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).
And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.
Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time.
But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.
Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Often times I leave a book feeling happy but this one left me so satisfied that days later I still thnk about the characters and all the crap they went through, especially the heroine Catherine. From a young age, we see how she is taken advantage of by an older man and how she and her family were ostracized. She was an outcast. She becomes a teen mom, leaves home and never reveals who the father is. Cath works hard to have a life for her and her child, Brenna. One night after a bad date she saves the life of an NHL player Brett Madden from a burning car. Catherine lives in a small sleepy town where everyone is always in other people's business. She has worked hard and kept her head down and finally the town is moving past her scandal...7 years later people! Now with her saving this athlete, there are paparazzi and news media EVERYWHERE. She does not want to be known but you know how that goes right...?

Alright, now that's all I will give you because honestly, I feel that going into this book blind is the best way to do it. At first, I really did not like Catherine's mom. Total biotch, and now as a mom I get why she did certain things but sometimes eve for me she way out of line. I get protecting your kid but when you say shit to hurt her intentionally well that's pretty messed up.

Next ther is Brett. YOOOOOO!!! I mean...
He is not arrogant or narcissistic, he is just a guy who has a big heart and so swoon worthy. Right from when he enters the picture I melted. Everything about him was perfect although I will admit there was a second there when I thought something not so nice. I mean she did save him so I felt ohhh maybe he just likes her cuz of that but the further the story went and I got a better sense of who Cath was I could easily understand why he liked her. This was a slow burn, really slow burn and I loved every second of it.

Catherine has many people in her life. Her best friend and town cop Kevin, I love Kevin I thought he was an amazing friend throughout everything. He truly just cares about Cath and Brenna and wants nothing but the best for them.

Lou and Leroy I mean can I have them? I love that KA Tucker wrote about diverse characters but it wasn't like she was trying, she didn't stereotype them or make them stand out when they spoke, they were just PEOPLE! I loved them. Then there is Misty, I like this girl but damn she needs to check herself sometimes. LOL

All in all, I really enjoyed this novel. From start to finish KA had my attention. While it is unlike any other book she has written I truly found it to be refreshing. The plot, the way the story unfolded, Cath's reservations and why she felt the way she did. How she cared for her daughter, every aspect was truly great.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid Blog Tour

Holy WOW!

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready, to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband, David, has left her, and her career has stagnated. Regardless of why Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s Upper East Side apartment, Monique listens as Evelyn unfurls her story: from making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the late 80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way. As Evelyn’s life unfolds—revealing a ruthless ambition, an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love—Monique begins to feel a very a real connection to the actress. But as Evelyn’s story catches up with the present, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

Written with Reid’s signature talent for “creating complex, likable characters” (Real Simple), this is a fascinating journey through the splendor of Old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means—and what it takes—to face the truth.

I did not know what I was getting into with this book but WOW! I have never read anything by TJR and I am so glad that this book, THIS BOOK was the one to introduce me to her. Right away I was hooked by her writing style. It was easy and seamless then as the characters were introduced I understood why everyone was in love with her books.

Monique is working for 'Vivant' she is virtually an unknown writer but is chosen by Evelyn to write her biography. I thought it was an odd request but HOLY SHIZZLE! I never saw that coming when it is finally revealed and OMG I just couldn't believe it. Okay, I could but still, it was executed perfectly and I swear I did not see it coming.

The deeper the story Evelyn wove the more entranced I was with her character. She made mistakes and did things that were not nice but that just made her more human. There are several things in my life I wish I had done differently but I can't and I just have to accept the consequences of those actions much like Evelyn does. With every tale, Evelyn tells about her husbands my emotions were everywhere and Harry, God I love him so much. I cried a few times during the book because man her life had so many ups and downs and I have no clue how she survived some of those things. There were times that Evelyn made me mad but in the end, I could understand some of her choices. I think that is what had me so engrossed in this novel.

What I really loved was the fact that I thought this book was going to just tell a simple tale of a Hollywood actress but what I got was so much more. The passion, love, and loss had me reeling. While I have read books about Hollywood A-list actors this one was so different and emotional. I am so glad that I went into this book completely blind because the love story was beautiful and so important. It needed to be told and in this way.

In the end, Taylor Jenkins Reid wrote a riveting, fascinating, and heartwarming poignant tale with twists and turns I did not see coming. Those secrets revealed by Evelyn gah, my heart! This is one of my top books of 2017 easily.

4.5/5 hearts

So I don't know where to start with this book. On one hand I loved the angst and drama (you all know, I am all about that) but on the other hand, I was a bit disappointed in Makenzie or Kenzie. Here she is blackballed from the sport she absolutely loves yet had never said crap to her father about it. I know that everyone had their own way of dealing but when someone is that passionate they fight, right?

We all know S.C. Stephens knows how to wreck your heart with love triangles, and she didn't disappoint. While I hated Felicia btw all I kept thinking about was this everytime her name popped up

Sorry, it is just a running meme in my mind whenever I see that name. Okay well, Kenzie has lost everything except Hayden, then his ex shows up and starts racing for his team and is living the life Mackenzie should have been. The angst is just enough that it keeps you on the edge and makes you want to read more, while simultaneously wanting to pull out your hair. As a reader, we get to see more than the characters so I kept saying "Oh God this is not good." "Oh shizzle, oh shizzle awwww noooooo." I know there was a moment where I was like WHAT IN THE ACTUAL EFF HAYDEN? WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!!

Overall this was a good follow-up to the first book Furious Rush. It has all the elements one needs to be engaged and keep turning the pages. I NEEDED to find out what was going to happen between Hayden and Kenzie. I mean could they survive Hayden's ex Felicia popping back into their lives? Well, you will have to read this book to find out.

Don't miss the first book in the RUSH series!

Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she’s racing against Hayden. As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into and intense—and strictly forbidden—attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. Especially when she begins to doubt that Hayden has completely left his street life behind…

Release Day Blitz for Bad Penny by Staci Hart

SBPRBanner-BADPENNY-RB.jpg

"Witty, sexy as all hell, and addictive like no other, Staci Hart BRINGS IT with Bad Penny."

-T.M. Frazier, USA Today Bestselling Author

Bad Penny, an all-new romantic comedy standalone from Staci Hart is now LIVE!

cover-wrap-penny copy 4.57.20 PM

Nothing good comes after the third date.
See, date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he gets weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.
Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.
So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked and can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.
Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

“This life is not glamorous,” Duke told her. “We travel constantly. We sleep on the ground most nights. When we’re not in danger from storms, we’re in danger in cities where we are considered criminals. This life is not for the faint of heart.” “There are things I do not know, things I will have to learn. But I am capable. I am familiar with sacrifice. I know what it is to make hard choices.” “Tell me you’re not considering this,” Locke said to Duke. The old man was silent for a long moment, both Locke and Roar looking to him for support. Duke rubbed at his mustache, a habit of his when he was thinking deeply. “Let’s think about this, Locke. She’s smart. And determined.” “She’s a child.” Roar’s shoulders hunched in Locke’s peripheral vision, and he swallowed back the guilt. He could apologize later. For now, it was imperative that he won this argument. “You were a child when I brought you into the fold,” Duke said. “She’s a young woman with a good head on her shoulders. And if this is what she wants, I’m inclined to at least hear her out.” Just like that, Roar’s shoulders straightened, and Locke turned to watch a devastating smile bloom across her mouth. His weakness when it came to her only made him more cross. “What skills do you have?” he snapped at Roar. “Skills?” “Yes, skills. What can you do? Or do you just plan to tag along for the ride?” A flush spread over her cheeks, and her voice was tentative when she answered, “I’m good on a horse. Very good.” Where in the world would she have learned to ride? He quickly hardened his expression. “Horses are fine for travel, but they don’t do well in storms. They, unlike you, have good survival instincts.” As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Locke could have sworn he felt an updraft—the first sign that bad weather could occur—and he knew that this time he had pushed too far. Roar marched toward him, spearing a finger into his chest and said, “I can read and write. I can speak Taraanese, Finlaghi, and Odilarian. I can read maps. I know enough about grassland vegetation and wildlife to survive without a market to buy food and drink. I’m good with knives and a bow. I learn quickly, and I’m not afraid of hard work. And I’ve spent my entire life reading as much about storms as I could get my hands on.” For a moment, her voice cracked under the weight of her anger, but she took a huffing breath and continued: “I’m good with numbers. It’s been a while, but I think I can probably still draw the constellations from memory, which should make me decent at navigation. I can—“ “Enough.” Locke’s voice came out in a deep rasp. He captured her long, delicate finger in his fist before she could continue poking him. He felt short of breath at the sight of her—livid and lovely. “Enough.” The old Locke might have kept arguing, and Roar would have met him toe-to-toe. But if becoming a storm hunter had taught him anything, it was that fighting head-on wasn’t always the way to win. Sometimes strategy was required. He met Duke’s eyes over her shoulder, and if he had thought Roar looked smug before, she had nothing on his mentor. The man raised his eyebrows in a challenge and asked, “You?” He hated the idea of bringing someone into this dangerous life, but if it was going to happen regardless, he sure as hell wouldn’t hand her safety over to anyone else, not even Ransom. And at the very least, it would give him the opportunity to change her mind. He gritted his teeth and nodded his acceptance.
