Where do I even start with this book. HOLY MOTHER EFFER that is a good start I think. I love K.A's writing. I love how enveloped and enraptured I become in her books. I am really hoping you have all read the first book Shattered Ties. If not then you need to go get it NOW. No seriously go get it. I read both books back to back. Let me tell you how this went. I woke up started reading Shattered Ties, about 4 hrs later I came back into the real world and was like WOW. So naturally I needed to start the next book. HOLY SHIZZLE!!!
In the first book I experienced the poor trailer park kid Jesse winning a scholarship to go to the rich side of town for school. Not to bad right. We all know how that goes when you are the poor kid, you're pretty much an outcast right from the jump. Plus he has tattoos. Think of Pretty in Pink. Ducky was never excepted *tears* (If you have not seen Pretty in Pink I just have no words for you *shakes head*) Well I don't really want to review that book as I will put it separately but he meets and falls in love with the rich girl Emma. (Good story) Well something major happens at the end and well if you have read ST you know what I am talking about. So Jesse leaves Cali and goes to West Virginia. I think I cried a little.
This book starts with Emma and Andy (Jesse's ex but still BFF, its complicated if you haven't read the first book) as now BFF's. I loved their friendship. He was protective and he takes care of Emma. I like Andy but his sister Ally.
I disliked her in the first book and I really hated her in this book. Lets back up though. So Emma is still hung up on Jesse after biotch Ally confesses she lied about things that caused Jesse and Emma to break up. Then she disappears.
Emma and Andy move to West Virginia, Emma is enrolled in school hoping against everything that Jesse is also a student. They don't find Jesse but they find Ally grrrrrrrrr! Oh and let me tell you it gets better and crazy. Ally is a piece of work. I wanted to bitch slap her. She lies to everyone. Its just a roller coaster of chaos. There is tons of angst, fighting and drama. Finally things get settled, and just when you think whew Jesse and Emma will now be happy and Ally is gone BAM
I am still in shock by the way things progressed. I mean...I have no words. I...just...what.the.hell!!!
K.A. Robinson has created a love story that had me gripped from beginning to end. I loved the characters and their banter. This second book really shows how the author is able to captivate and hold attention with graphic details. I was cringing and yelling at my kindle. My palms were sweating, I really thought it wasn't going to end well. When it did end there was still issues that needed to be addressed and I was scared then for Emma and Jesse. K.A had my heart in her hands, she ripped it apart but slowly mended me back together. This was a great follow up book and I enjoyed it immensely. This author has quickly become one of my go to favorite authors.
