The Dark Light of Day by T.M Frazier Review by Sandie

Warning: This is not your typical romance. The story of Abby & Jake contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, rape, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse.

Abby has been through hell and has survived one of the most brutal childhoods imaginable…barely.

To the outside world she's just a loner with an attitude.

When her grandmother dies in a tragic explosion, Abby is left with questions-and nothing else.

Homeless, sleeping in a junkyard, and on the run from a system that has failed her over and over again, she meets Jake, a tattooed blue-eyed biker with secrets that will rival her own.

Two broken souls that can't be healed. They can't be saved.

Abby & Jake must reveal to one another their most guarded secrets and discover if they can embrace the darkness those secrets hold-and the darkness within themselves.

If they can accept one another for who they really are, they might be able to learn that love isn’t always found in the light.

*stand alone novel, HEA in a twisted kind of way, no cliffhangers, no sequel

I was asked by the author if I could read and review her book, I read the synopsis said sure then totes forgot because you know family, kids, blog tours, talking dogs, losing my mind etc. Then a friend of mine is like you really need to read this book. It is amazing and I know you will love it, she went on and on so I was like whoa Nat ok ok I will read it. LOL it was this book that she kept raving about! I could not wait to read it.

HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!

I didn't know what to expect when I started this book but right away I was sucked in. The prologue itself is intense! I was hooked all of 1% and I just needed to keep reading.

Abby is not your typical teenager, she has been through so much hell its not even funny. Her past consisted of her being burned, battered and scarred. She finally found sanctuary with her grandmother. On the day of Abby's graduation she is found dead. Abby is now alone in this world and not 18. The state wants to put her in foster care and Abby will do anything to not let that happen. Even sleeping in a junkyard.

Jake, oh Jake. Blue eyes, gorgeous, biker and a killer, not one to be messed with. When he discovers her one night in the junkyard, he does what he can to find out all about her. Lets just say some crazy shit happens. These two hurting dark souls seem to come together. Its unconventional but it works. The attraction between the two of them is kind of sudden but I believe that there is that type of insta-love.
Yes I do! I was not at all put off by them falling fast only because I knew that there would be more drama and angst.
Oh Boooy did I get all of that. I read as they fell for one another, how they trusted one another, how he would kill anyone for her. How she opened up to him and showed him things and told him things she had never told anyone. Then
I get the rug pulled out from under me and I am literally like this...

WHAT THE FUCK? NO after everything this cannot be happening.

This is where I am like okay it can't get any worse right? I was wrong it gets worse and then worse still...
My heart is shattered. I can not breathe. I want to hug Abby and hold her. I want to kick peoples asses. Instead I try and make sense of what I am reading and I cry. Oh and not just like a boo-hoo kinda cry I mean a full on ugly booger cry. I needed to walk away, I needed to soothe my heart. I wasn't sure I could go on, but I did.

Atta girl Abby you show them what your made of! This girl amazing. Life can throw her shit and she will continue to move forward and not let it get to her. Then I get to 79% OH.MY.GOD! did you hear that? that is my heart fucking cracking yet again.
Man this author knows how to make me feel so many emotions.

In the end all I can say is that I loved this book. It was raw and gritty. It is a love story but its a fucked up one. Trust issues and rumors can tear people apart. I didn't know if I loved Jake or not. He is just so uncouth. Then again that is what makes him so appealing. This story had me gripped from the beginning. It had me crying and my heart breaking left and right.

Honestly I do enjoy stories like this because life is not always beautiful. Just because you meet your soul mate does not make you less susceptible to hurt and anguish. Those seem to be the ones whom hurt us more. This story is graphic, but I appreciated the way the author built up the characters, even in all that darkness there is light. There is someone that makes you want to be a better person and though you may not deserve them, you want them to know that you will do all you can to be worthy.

I gave this book
5/5 hearts
