Willow Aster's WHORE Release Day Blitz

Whore by Willow Aster is now LIVE!!!

PURCHASE YOUR COPY OF WHORE TODAY!

“I need a reason to exist.”
Beautiful, intelligent, independent, strong-willed, wealthy—Lilith Fontenot seems by all appearances, to have it all. But that’s not how the highest paid prostitute in New Orleans sees herself.
A stain on society. A scourge. A waste. Outsider. Prisoner…
Any idyllic dream of the normal life she may have once imagined, Lilith buried long ago. Her only plan now is survival.
But mob boss Nico Santelli and community center owner Soti Christos have not given up on Lilith. Each has his own very specific, very opposing, plans for her, and neither will rest until it becomes a reality.
WHORE is a singularly bracing take on an ancient tale of tireless love, betrayal, and the possibility of redemption.

I take a sudden deep breath and my breasts brush against his chest. The contact surprises us both. I do it again, intentionally this time, trying to gain control in the only way I know how. His neck flushes and he takes a step back. I enjoy the rush it gives me, knowing that I affect him too. “Hey, would you like to come around the corner with me to—” I swallow my surprise and shake my head, holding my hand up before he says anything else. “Please,” he says louder. “What’s your name?” “I am Sotirios … Soti.” “Soti, what makes you think you know anything about me?” He tries to make eye contact, but I focus on a spot just past his left ear. “I just want to help you…” His words trail off. The wind blows my hair forward, a sheet of black coming between us until I smooth the long strands down on either side. I gaze down the street and see a blurry little girl with black hair down to her waist in middle school, standing shy and hopeful in front of a group of girls. “We know what you are,” they said. They hurled spit and names on her and she stood there, taking it, until the teacher came and helped her. Help only got me so far. “You listen to me, okay?” I say so softly he leans in to hear me. “I was born for this.” When my eyes finally land on his again, I know his face will haunt me forever. He looks as bleak as I feel. I clear my throat. “Now, if you’ll excuse us.” With that, I loop my hand through the arm of my next income source, calculating how I can get the most money out of him for the least amount of time. It takes every ounce of willpower I own to not look Soti’s way one more time. Once we round the corner and I know he’s out of sight, all the adrenaline leaves my body, and I’m actually glad to have someone to hold onto. I avoid my reflection as we walk back to the house. I don’t want to know what the rest of the world sees when they look at me.

Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing a mistake deserves is forgiveness.

The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

Poignant and powerful, WITHOUT MERIT explores the layers of lies that tie a family together and the power of love.

Reading Colleen Hoover books is an obsession.
Every time I begin one of her books I think how can she possibly top the last book? And every time she surprises me. Not only is this book, unlike any book I have ever read, it is told in such a way that I didn't mind that there wasn't a romance.

I love YA that is my favorite genre to read out of all of them. Why? Because it cleanses my pallet from all the romance and sex I am used to reading. Now I am going, to be honest, I got this book in July and I began it in August. I put it down. It wasn't bad so don't be side eyeing me it was just a combination of things. I was in a weird place and not in the mood for this book, it was a bit slow to start and then when I finally hit a certain point HOT DAMN! I think it was right about 34% where I was like alright and I was all in. I stayed up until 2AM reading because I had to see how the Voss' were going to end up.

Merit is an identical twin to Honor. They have an older brother named Utah but she doesn't have the best relationship with them. Little by little, layer by layer I began to see the dynamic of this household and CHEESUS Christ was I dumbfounded. There were so many things happening and the characters were each going through different things and then it all exploded and I was just...
I mean you have to read the family dynamic to truly understand what it is that I am writing about. So many secrets, so many untalked about issues that finally come to a head and it's boggling how this family has survived this long.

I encourage people to read it because with Colleen you never know what to expect, and she once again shows her brilliance in this novel. It is raw, real and emotional. Each character has issues about them that unravel. Since I don't do spoilers this is all I am willing to say. Ok, wait I lie there are a few things I can say that is not spoilery...ready? I loved that Colleen wrote the Bookworm Box into the story, I loved that she wrote herself into the story (I'm pretty sure it was her because who else hands out Diet Pepsi?) I thought that was brilliant and kind of Inception-isk, which was really cool.

At the beginning of the book, I was really thinking can this be the first CoHo book that I do not like? But by the end, I was once again so in love with her and her writing style that I forgive her for making me feel like that in the beginning. She can send me sugar cookies to make up for my irrational fear. (Hear/Read that Colleen? Sugar cookies in my mailbox. I will be expecting them!)

Yes, I understand that I didn't go into detail about the book because honestly, I feel that one needs to go in blind. And I know it's YA and some people might be worried that they can't or won't connect with the characters but I don't find that to be true. We have all been teens who thought we knew everything or had certain quirks that others found odd right? Then I feel that in some capacity one will be able to connect with these characters or even see their own children in them.

Heathens by Amanda Richardson Release Blitz Review by Sandie

HEATHENS (Heathens Duet #1) by Amanda Richardson
Genre: Stand-alone Dark Romance
Cover Design by Amanda Richardson
Release Date: September 14, 2017

Paris is home to runaways and lost souls, romantics and artists. A lover’s paradise. For Lilith Damewood, Paris is tainted, tarnished, corroded. Trying to claw her way out of her dark memories, she channels her vitriol into her photography.   Salem Tempest is a seminary student entrusted with the souls of Notre Dame de Paris—even the dark ones. When an unlikely friendship forms between the two of them, and a revelation shakes them both to their core, Lily and Salem find themselves connected in powerful and unexpected ways.   Lily risks his ruin—and her own.   After all, even holy men can fall. And salvation may be closer than they realize.   HEATHENS is a dark romance that connects five souls in a web of choice, sin, revenge, and redemption. It may be considered blasphemous to some. It is intended for mature readers.   HEATHENS is book 1 in the HEATHENS duet. BELIEVERS, book 2, will be releasing early 2018. Both books can be read as a standalone.

Goodreads

I am the most random person.
When I choose to do a blog tour or read a book by an author I have never read it's usually because I see teasers.
That is what happened here I saw teasers for Heathens and I wanted to know more.
I loved the teasers, a good teaser that can catch my attention usually is a good sign.
I was drawn to these teasers.
I was drawn to the words.
I needed to read more.
Damn, I am glad I did.

Now when I get books I don't always look at the synopsis.
Why?
I don't know.
I think sometimes I like to go in completely blind.
I don't read reviews hardly ever.
I don't too often care for others opinions of the book.
After I have read said book I might look at a few but I never let them sway me.

What was I expecting from Heathens?
A dark Romance? Yes, because that is what it says it is.
Was it dark? Ummmmm...
This is not light but it's not too dark either.
I've read some really dark fucked up shit so this wasn't too bad.

As per usual, I don't like to give too much away.
What I will say is that Amanda Richardson has a way with words.
A way in which made me feel.
Made me want to jump into the story and protect these characters.
Oh, and man did I love Salem.
Now, this is where I was like yo Sandie, where are your morals?
Dude is studying to become a priest.
I shouldn't think of him the way I was.
I should respect the collar.
LORT, I am going to hell.
But he was HAWT.
I blame Amanda for this.
She had to write a character who is studying to be a priest, but he's
Now let me say a few things about Lily because I could go on and on about Salem.
Lily for me was a good balance.
I could see how messed up she was.
But, I could also see her determination.
Never once did she give up looking for her friend Evelyn, who was kidnapped!
I know, right.
Lily and Evelyn were both kidnapped at one point.
Lily got away and now she is looking for her friend.
I was like...
And that is all I will say about that, oh other than Salem is helping Lily.
So you see it's all kinds of taboo and what not but damn the story was so good.
What I can say is this, the beginning was a tad slow.
I think the reason was because the author was building the suspense.
I was confused a bit but then it got to a certain point and I was like...
Overall, I enjoyed the book.
I liked the characters.
The author did a great job in keeping my interest.
This was my first read by this author but it will not be my last.

Veil of Vines by Tillie Cole Blog Tour + Giveaway

To most people, princes, princesses, counts and dukes are found only in the pages of the most famous of fairytales. Crowns, priceless jewels and gilded thrones belong only in childhood dreams.
But for some, these frivolous fancies are truth.
For some, they are real life.
On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, people have always treated me as someone special. All because of my ancestral name and legacy. All because of a connection I share to our home country’s most important family of all.
I am Caresa Acardi, the Duchessa di Parma. A blue blood of Italy. I was born to marry well. And now the marriage date is set.
I am to marry into House Savona. The family that would have been the royals had Italy not abolished the monarchy in 1946. But to the aristocrats of my home, the abolition means nothing at all.
The Savonas still hold power where it counts most.
In our tight-knit world of money, status and masked balls, they are everything and more.
And I am soon to become one of them.
I am soon to become Prince Zeno Savona’s wife…
… or at least I was, until I met Achille.
And everything changed.

Caresa

As my papa’s G5 began its descent, I looked out of the window beside me and waited for the plane to break through the clouds. I held my breath, body tense, then suddenly the burnt-orange remnants of daylight flooded the plane, bathing the interior with a soft, golden glow. I inhaled deeply. Italia.
Fields and fields of green and yellow created a patchwork quilt below, rolling hills and crystal-blue lakes stretching as far the eye could see. I smiled as a sense of warmth ran through me.
It was the most beautiful place on earth.
Sitting back in my wide cream leather chair, I closed my eyes and tried to prepare myself for what was coming. I was flying to Florence airport, from where I would be swiftly taken to the Palazzo Savona estate just outside of the city.
I would meet Prince Zeno.
I had met him twice before—once when I was four, of which I had no memory, and again when I was ten. The interaction we’d had as children had been brief. If I was being honest, I had found Zeno to be arrogant and rude. He had been thirteen at the time and not at all interested in meeting a ten-year-old girl from America.
Neither of us had known at the time that that our betrothal had been agreed upon two years prior. It turned out that the trip my papa had taken to Umbria when I was eight was to secure a forever-bond between the Savonas and the Acardis. King Santo and my father had planned for their only children to marry. They were already joined in business; Zeno’s arranged marriage to me would also strengthen both families’ place in society.
I thought back on my New York farewell of nine hours ago and sighed. My parents had driven me to the private hangar and said their goodbyes. My mama cried—her only child was leaving her for a new life. My papa, although sad to see me go, beamed at me with the utmost pride. He had held me close and whispered, “I have never been more proud of you than I am right now, Caresa. Savona Wines’ stock has plummeted since Santo’s death. This union will reassure all the shareholders that our business is still strong. That we are still a stable company with Zeno at the helm.”
I had given him a tight smile and boarded the plane with a promise that they would see me before the wedding. And that had been that.
I was to marry Zeno, and I hadn’t protested even once. I imagined to most modern-day women living in New York, the process of arranged marriages sounded positively medieval, even barbaric. For a blue blood, it was simply a part of life.
King Santo Savona died two months ago. The shareholders of his many Italian vineyards, the stakeholders in Savona Wines, had expected his son, Zeno, to immediately step up and take charge. Instead, Zeno had plunged himself into the party scene even harder than before—and that was quite a feat. Within weeks my papa had flown out to Umbria to see what could be done.
The answer: our imminent union.

I love fairy tales. There is just something so pure and magical about them. The way the Princess or commoner meets a man (sometimes he's a prince and other times he's not) and they fall in love. This book has those types of elements. A girl who has always dreamed of her wedding day but she is betrothed to a playboy Prince.

Caresa is a Duchess is betrothed to Prince Zeno Savona to keep their blue blood alive. It’s a tradition and one she intent on fulfilling. Raised in New York she moves back to Italy in order to do her duty, to marry Prince Zeno. She is slowly learning about the land she will own and one day meets Achille.

The story for me seemed a bit slower in the beginning but once I got past a certain point there was no going back and I loved the story. Tillie Cole has a way with words, she painted Italy beautifully. The forbidden romance aspect was done seamlessly and this just gave my heart all the sweet feels. I know Tillie Cole as an author with edgy, raw and dark books but this one is light and pleasant. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves fairy tales.
