Sarah Castille Spotlight, reviews by Dee

Against the Ropes (Redemption, #1)Against the Ropes by Sarah Castille
My rating: 4 of 5 hearts

Synopsis:

He scared me. He thrilled me. And after one touch, all I could think about was getting more…

Makayla never thought she’d set foot in an underground mixed-martial arts club. But if anyone needs a medic on hand, it’s these guys. Trouble is, at her first sight of the club’s owner she’s the one feeling breathless.

All sleek muscle and restrained power, the man they call Torment plays to win at any cost. Whether it’s in the ring or in the bedroom, he knows exactly when to use a soft touch and when to launch a full-on assault. He always knows just how far he can push. And he’s about to tempt Makayla in ways she never imagined…

I was totally surprised by this book. I really liked it. I love the growth of Makayla. Though sometimes I got a little irritated with Max's controlling and possessiveness, I still loved it. I kind of wish it had an epilogue. I felt bad for Amanda and Jake, but totally love doctor drake. I also really loved the texts and the way they refer to max in the third person. I also really like the family that the men at the gym have formed. All in all I think this was a really good book. It has a good plot line and Sarah has such a smooth writing style.

The only thing I didn't like was max comparing her student loans to the mafia bc it went to collections. She didn't borrow from the mafia to go to school. And she did all that filing and complaining and we never really find out why they went back on her deferment and took it away. That was the only thing that ruffled me. I felt like that part of the story line could have been detailed a little better.

I still really liked it and give this book 4 hearts

In Your Corner (Redemption, #2)In Your Corner by Sarah Castille
My rating: 4.5 of 5 hearts

Synopsis:

"You have to go. I won't be able to control myself. I've wanted you so bad for so long and after I've been in the cage...I can't think straight." He gives a guttural groan and his fist clenches on my hip.

Primitive. Primal. His need speaks to me. I tighten my grip on his neck and rock up to kiss him. He takes over. His kiss is hard and demanding.

"Mine." His voice is raw, savage and for a moment I truly believe he may lose control.

He rules in the ring

Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

I love this series. More so I love the way Sara writes her stories. I always end the book with a smile on my face. I love the text messages just as much as I did in Against the Ropes. I loved Jakes devotion to Amanda. I love that he never gave up loving her, regardless of the space between them. I love that Sara has a way of writing a little bit of humor into the story between all the angst, drama, and steam. I also love the way she writes her alpha males- Max, Jake, Ray. She also has this way of starting a story with a vulnerable woman and letting you watch the character grow as the story progresses. She didn't fail to deliver that in this story ether. Amanda started off a little fragile, vulnerable, emotionally broken, guarded. As the story unfolds, you see the layers fall away and she blooms into a stronger woman. Though I will say I feel kind of bad for Dr drake. I wonder how him and Penny would fair together. I love the relationships that Sara builds in the books. Not only between our primary characters, but also between all our secondary ones as well. You will fall in love wth all the guys from the gym. How can you not?? I highly suggest this series.

I give this book 4.5 hearts
