The Power by Jennifer L Armentrout Review

The Power (Titan Series #2)

New Adult Paranormal

With any great change, there is always strife, and the Covenant University has become the frontline between pure-bloods who want the Breed Order reinstated and the half-bloods who want the right to control their own destinies.

Fate has other plans.

The violence is escalating and war between the races seems inevitable, and it couldn’t come at a worse time. Hyperion may be out of commission, but Josie and Seth know they have only earned a reprieve.  Seth must get Josie fully prepared, which means controlling her newfound abilities, and they need to find the other demigods before the Titans do.

But the gods are sensing a greater threat.

Only one thing is more dangerous than a bunch of starved Titans, and that’s an out-of-control Apollyon. The aether in Josie is drawing Seth in deeper, and when lust mixes with love and gives way to power, he knows being close to her is not only dangerous to her, but to everyone around them, but letting her go requires a level of selflessness that just isn’t Seth’s style.

The paths taken in the past are becoming the roads of the future.

Just as chaos breaks out, familiar faces from the past return, complicating the already strained bond between Josie and Seth, and when the danger from the Titans erupts with devastating consequences, the dark allure of power calls to Seth again, but this time Josie might not be able to pull him back.

And when the struggle between power and love becomes the deadliest battleground, there may be no salvation.

You know what's funny? For the past month, I've been having a hard time reading. Not like I haven't it's more like nothing seems to hold my interest. Since the beginning of this year, I've read 7 books. SEVEN! in its entirety. Most people might say what's the big deal? As a book blogger welll I'm used to reading that in a week or two. But, once again JLA has brought me out of my slump. I was reading romance and while I love romance sometimes I just need to cleanse my pallet and in a way yes The Power is sort of a romance but it's also NA Paranormal with Greek Gods, demi-gods and such. The way it's written and the way Jennifer has that way of pulling me in and wanting more and more, that is this book!

The Power is packed with so much. Seth OH man oh man Seth. He is just kick ass and snarky and sexy and badass and whew. Like in The Return he is still as cocky and funny as ever. I love him. I enjoy reading his character because he gives me everything. The feels, the swoons and the OH MY GODS all in one book/s.

Josie, this girl is amazing. She didn't grow up in this world so she's trying her best to catch up and she's doing a great job. I love that she is slowly building her confidence and not just badass right away. It's important for me because I get to see her growth as a person, in a relationship and who she is and the powers she holds. I also love that she is just genuinely a real person.

I also love that Josie has so much faith in Seth. She looks at him the way I do my husband. A man who has a past and has been hurt but deserves every ounce of happiness because underneath it all his heart is good.

While, I love the fact that there is romance, that is not the only element driving this novel. The Titans are still a huge threat to Josie and demi-gods. There are many twists and turns. Friends from past books make appearances and it was great to see them back.

Jennifer L. Armentrout has a way of weaving tales together that keeps me entertained from beginning to end. Greek Mythology is fun to learn about but when I get to be inside JLA's head and how she spins it in her own way things get heated, swoon worthy and badass. When I finished this novel I sat back with the book to my heart and let out a sigh. It was everything I needed. It gave me drama, passion, love, craziness, and Seth. If you have not picked up this series yet I HIGHLY recommend it. You will not be disappointed and the writing is just *sigh* amazing for lack of a better word.

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.
