Beautiful Oblivion Blog Tour

Oh yes Beautiful Oblivion Blog Tour is here!!

The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series.

Fiercely independent Camille "Cami" Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.

Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.

Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.

As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.

In the first installment of the Maddox Brothers books, readers can experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time, all over again.

***E-ARC provided by Atria in exchange for an honest review***

I just want to start with this. I love Jamie McGuire, like to the point of obsession. She was the first indie author I read. (obvs before she was picked up by Atria) Beautiful Disaster was the first book I read and I fell, I fell hard. When she announced she would be writing books for each of the Maddox brothers I was very excited.

Where do I even start. While I really wanted to love this book the way I fell in love with Beautiful Disaster, sadly I can not say that happened. The book is great, written well and I enjoyed it. Travis is just a man that sadly I do not think can be upped even by his brother. I do however believe that if I had read this book first I would have abso-freaking-lutly loved Trent and held him in that #1 spot in my heart.

I enjoyed Cami. I loved how she would not back down. She is a tough chick who will fight to get what she wants and needs. I see a lot of myself in her, and felt I connected with her. She comes from a protective bunch of brothers who would hurt others for her. They're a bit crazy but what can you expect when you have 3 brothers. Cami lives with her friend Ray and is trying to find her way in life. She is a girl that makes me say "yes" because she is not one to let small things knock her down. She is a fighter. Maybe her background has a lot to do with that, and probably why I connected with her character.

Trenton Maddox, wow this guy is just great. There were many things I had not expected about him. He is a true Maddox through and through. He loves fiercely, deeply, and very protectively. I loved that about him. The story runs along the same timeline as Abby and Trav or Trabby as I call them. I think that was genius. Funny and engaging but will fight for those he loves at the drop of a dime. Jamie knows how to write these men so well. He may be a Maddox but don't let that fool you, he is very caring and loyal, like Travis but, he has his own personality and it shined through the pages.

There are many things that I loved so much. Scenes that made me swoon and love Trent. Ray (Raegan) oh man that chick is something else. I loved her, she was refreshing and made me cringe with some of her decisions. She was a great addition as well as Hazel. Then there is a plot twist. This thing that made me sit back and think and think. I did guess it early on BUT its still great and made the story that much juicier.

There were a few things that still have me saying hmmmm. I tried piecing it together but, I can't. For the life of me I am trying but I can't see it. Maybe in another one of the Maddox's men's book I shall receive my answer. All I know is that I am dying for one Maddox brothers book in particular and I believe his story is going to be epic. Although, for me the story did not top Trabby's I still think it was a great read. Jamie is a great story teller and weaved the two stories into one another very well. If you love hot, tattooed men with huge hearts this story is definitely for you.

3/5 hearts for me

Okay. I am a little stuck with this book, I can't figure out how I feel or how to rate it. I mean, I'm stuck on Beautiful Disaster. I expected this book to be on the same level as Travis, for Jamie to wow me just as much as she did with Travis. So that is what I was expecting. That is what I was hoping for. It was what I really thought would happen. I am going to be completely honest, I am on the fence. I'm not sure that is what I got. Let me explain before you track me  down and run me over.... Do you remember reading Beautiful Disaster? I do. To me, it will always be one of the best books I have ever read. I can still remember how I felt when I read the book. I can still remember that cried during the fire. I can still remember the feeling I got when Travis proclaimed how much he loved her.. remember this scene...
I remember the lines, the feelings it pulled out of me, the desire I had to read it again as soon as I saw 'the end'..and that was a couple years ago. But with Beautiful Oblivion, I don't feel like I have that. Now don't get me wrong, it's still a really good book. The characters are great, and it's a good story line with a plot twist I didn't see coming. However, if you want me to tell you that it's the up to par with Travis, I will have to say no. It was just another romance novel to me.

I liked Trent. I liked seeing another Maddox brother. I love the way Jamie writes, so that isn't an issue either. You still get sucked in, you still want to see how it's going to turn out. Is it stay up all night kind of reading material, unfortunately no. I liked the other characters-I like Cami and Ray too. However there was still alot that I got irritated with, a lot like I felt was just a little overkill. The names, the secrets, the over-protectiveness, the brothers.

Now the plot twist, that was something I totally didn't see coming. That was a surprise that definitely threw me through a loop- so that was amazingly done. I know Sandie called it, but I didn't expect it. So that gets bonus points for me. And thus lies my internal battle, I just keep repeating in my head "I don't know." I'm just so stuck. I don't know how to rate this, because to me it was just a book- it wasn't exceptional like Travis and Abby. I am having the hardest time with rating this book. I don't know how to rate it, I don't know how to express how I feel or the issues I had without posting spoilers.

At the end of the day I can tell you it was a good book. The writing is typical Jamie and is amazing, it just wasn't up to par with Trav and Abby. All in all I give this book somewhere between 3.5-4 hearts.

Synopsis
Rowan Callahan is a career-climbing slut. At least according to the vicious—and false—rumor that is destroying her professional life. But a little thing like her career as an attorney ceases to matter when a plane crashes in downtown Chicago and the entire city goes dark. Her unconventional upbringing makes her suspect the worst: she’s just witnessed the kick-off to the apocalypse. Armed with a backpack of supplies, she leaves Chicago, intent on resetting her skewed priorities and seeking shelter at the family farm with her father and sister. She’s injured and running for her life when she stumbles directly in the crosshairs of two men who just might be her salvation . . . and her greatest temptation. Graham Buchanan and Zachariah Sawyer are best friends and brothers-in-arms who have been indulging in ménages since before their Force Recon team served in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’ve hung up their uniforms to build a new life for themselves and their team at Castle Creek Whitetail Ranch—a rustic deer hunting preserve that covertly doubles as a doomsday prepper’s paradise. They thought they were prepared for anything until Rowan comes crashing into their lives. Graham and Zach are convinced she’s the one woman who can handle them both, but she has no intention of deviating from her carefully laid plans for longer than it takes her to recover from her injuries. So they propose a deal: they’ll provide her an armed escort home, and in exchange, she’s theirs until they part ways. It was the perfect plan; except once they've had her, they can’t let her go . excerpt
Chapter 1
September—Chicago. A plane fell from the sky. It was quite possibly the only interruption that could have dragged Rowan out of the epic pity party she was throwing herself. It was the kind of pity party one threw when a carefully planned life and decades of hard work were demolished by a complete and utter shit storm. And not demolition by a run-of-the-mill shit storm. A shit mudslide, followed by a category five shit hurricane. Rowan doubted anything other than the plane, the fifty-story building it toppled and the hundreds of lives that had been violently and tragically cut short could have pushed the thoughts of the lying asshole and blackballing bitch who owned his sad sack from her mind. Rowan had to swallow back the bile that rose when what she’d just seen started to sink in. The loss of life ... What the hell just happened? The symphony of honking horns that filled the Chicago streets died abruptly, right in time with the falling plane. For a single moment, the lunchtime crowds on North Wacker Drive completely stilled. A beat of silence. Then chaos erupted. “We’re under attack!” a woman screamed. She was only three feet away from Ro, and her screech nearly ruptured an eardrum. Terrorists. Okay. That makes sense. Doesn’t it? “Run!” a large man in a suit shouted as flames burst from the collapsing building. Traffic stood still. The familiar sound of idling engines and car radios was eerily absent. Rowan’s gaze darted around frantically. The traffic lights and DO NOT WALK signs were dark. There were no fire truck sirens screaming toward the building that was quickly becoming a fully involved inferno. No ambulances were rushing to the scene to try to save potential survivors. A greasy feeling of panic pooled in Ro’s stomach. Loud popping noises punctured through the sounds of chaos as the glass globes of the nearby light poles shattered before bursting into flames. Without taking her eyes from the disaster playing out before her, Ro rooted around in her bag for her cell phone. Her panic spiked when she pressed the button and swiped her finger across the darkened screen. Nothing. It had been nearly fully charged when she’d unplugged it from the charger on her desk only twenty minutes ago. Ro’s continued furious pressing of buttons did nothing to bring it to life. Her brain snapped into focus. No way. It’s not possible. A firefighter crashed into her bistro table as he ran toward the burning building. Her uncapped bottle of iced tea toppled, spilling onto her lap. The splash of cold liquid freed Rowan from her temporary paralysis, just as three other firefighters ran past. Thank God help is on the way. In that moment, she made her decision. She reached down to yank off her pumps, swapped them for the ballet flats in her bag, and started to run.

Grace for Drowning by Maya Cross release blitz

Title
Grace for Drowning

Release Date
June 29th

Genre
Contemporary Fighter Romance

Hope is a dangerous thing. I know that more than most. Everything good I've ever had has been stolen from me — my friends, my fiancé, my innocence, some would say even my sanity. All I have left is the cage. Fighting is the only thing that eases the ache inside me even a little. It’s the only thing that keeps the bottle at bay.

I was content to ride out my life alone. I was done dreaming that things could be better. But then I met Grace, and suddenly, all I could do was dream.

She's battling those same demons, only she's losing. I don’t want to care, but something about her calls to me. That pain in her eyes is so sharp, so familiar. I know it’s only a matter of time before it pulls her below the surface.

I can help her, and maybe, just maybe, she can help me too. For the first time in what feels like forever, I’ve got hope, and that scares the hell out of me.

This is a full length novel with no cliffhanger. There will be a sequel, but this book resolves all the story elements by the end. It is written with dual perspectives, so both Logan and Grace get their say.

I gave a tiny shake of my head. It felt like a big gesture, one that should have set the earth shaking and the sky falling, but it was strangely liberating at the same time. A moment of clarity in an ocean of confusion. I wanted him. I couldn’t deny that anymore. I wanted everything those absent words implied. His hands on my body, his lips on mine. I knew that given a few days, a few hours, maybe even a few minutes, my pain and self-loathing would resurface and start sabotaging this again, but right now, in that moment, I was free of that.

Before I could talk myself out of it, I lunged towards him. He was so tall that I had to stretch up onto my toes, wrapping my hands around his neck to pull his mouth down to mine. It sent a powerful longing through me, that height, that sheer bulk. I normally hate to be reminded how diminutive I am, but I liked how small he made me feel. There was something strangely comforting about it.

His body stiffened and he mumbled a curse against my lips. For a moment, he barely moved. I could feel the war playing out behind his eyes. But then the fight drained out of him, and his arms enveloped me as he began kissing me back with an urgency strong enough to be almost frightening. Part of me expected it to feel wrong, a betrayal of everything I’d had with Tom, but instead my body simply melted against his like it had always been there, and all other thoughts disappeared.

All my other first kisses had been timid affairs, but this was something else entirely, fierce and hungry; an explosion of everything that was simmering inside us. Though I’d initiated it, Logan quickly seized control. This wasn’t a man who simply stood by and had things happen to him. Leather-rough palms ran amok across my back and shoulders, pulling me against him as though he was afraid I’d be snatched away at any moment. I moaned involuntarily into his mouth as his tongue darted and teased. In some distant part of me I felt ashamed, but it was dwarfed by the fire that was coursing through my veins. I’d never been kissed like that before. Not by Tom. Not by anybody. It felt like a matter of need rather than want. Life or death.

I’d seen him shirtless plenty of times of course, but the sight was different now. Erotic, sensual, and above all, mine. I could barely breathe for how magnificent he looked. Sculpted and tanned and lit with moonlight; a living breathing Greek statue. I wanted to touch all of him, to feel each inch between my fingers, in my mouth, in every part of me. I’d never been so intoxicated by another human being.

My hands took on a mind of their own, dancing hungrily across his bare chest. His muscles were so hard, like his entire body was just skin stretched over stone sculpture. Everything inside me seemed to clench as my fingers took it all in, the perfectly defined grooves between his pecs and his abs, the mountainous curl of his biceps. He was still slick with sweat and hot from the night’s exertion, but that only excited me more. Images played through my head of him in the arena, his body a perfect primal machine leveling all of that power at his opposition.

My lack of control seemed to trigger something in Logan. He reached for my shirt, tugging it over my head, and then his hands turned ravenous, squeezing my breasts, my ass, the curve of my hips. It felt like his fingers were everywhere at once, and my body tingled and burned in response. It was so good to be touched again. I hadn’t realized how long it had been or how much I missed it, but there was something exquisite about it — a tactile euphoria that kept me centered in that perfect moment and scattered all my problems to the wind.

This book was such an emotional ride for me. There are so many different topics that the book touches on, and each one tugs at your heartstrings. You have loss, addiction, love, fear, war, memories. So many different things that everyone can relate to, that people may battle with, but may not have someone like Logan or Grace to help them get through whatever it is they are going through. You immediately love Logan. What he does for Grace, who he is for her, shows how much of a good man he is, he shows his character. I know, he's an MMA fighter so he shouldn't empathise, but he does. And when you learn why he relates to her situation so well, you heart breaks a little for this man. And Grace, when you learn of her loss and her struggle, it makes your heart break a little more. The struggles that these two go through will continuously break your heart over and over, but Maya does an amazing job of giving us their struggles and shows us their strengths too. She shows us the paths they took alone, and the journey they ended up taking together. She does an amazing job of making you feel everything these characters have gone through and go through together. I had a little trouble staying invested in the story from page to page, chapter to chapter, but I thought it was a great story.

I give this book 3.5 hearts

Maya Cross is a writer who enjoys making people blush. Growing up with a mother who worked in a book store, she read a lot from a very young age, and soon enough picked up a pen of her own. She’s tried her hands at a whole variety of genres including horror, science fiction, and fantasy, but funnily enough, it was the sexy stuff that stuck. She has now started this pen name as an outlet for her spicier thoughts (they were starting to overflow). She likes her heroes strong but mysterious, her encounters sizzling, and her characters true to life.

She believes in writing familiar narratives told with a twist, so most of her stories will feel comfortable, but hopefully a little unique. Whatever genre she's writing, finding a fascinating concept is the first, and most important step.

The Alpha Group is her first attempt at erotic romance.

When she's not writing, she's playing tennis, trawling her home town of Sydney for new inspiration, and drinking too much coffee.
